Why Freedom Church?
The message of Christ promises
new freedom through salvation for all believers --- the freedom of
forgiveness and peace with God, the freedom from sin and guilt. This is also
the message of Freedom Church.
1.
Romans 8:21 describes “the glorious freedom of the children of
God.”
2.
Ephesians
3:12 says,
“In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and
confidence.”
3.
Galatians 2:4 speaks of “the freedom we have in Christ Jesus”.
4.
“So if the
Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”
(John 8:36).
5.
“To him who
loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood… to him be glory and
power for ever and ever! Amen.” (Rev. 1:5-6).
There are pitfalls that can
entrap Christians so that they are “burdened again” and do not enjoy full
freedom in Christ --- legalism, hypocrisy and lack of faith. We’ll oppose
these evils as passionately as Jesus did during his ministry and nurture the
freedom of the Spirit.
1.
Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us
free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened
again by a yoke of slavery.”
2.
2nd Corinthians 3:17-18 says, “Now the Lord is the
Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
When Jesus described his own mission he quoted from the
Prophet Isaiah as follows:
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me
to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the
blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's
favor." (Luke 4:18-19
NIV).
Finally, the events of September
11, 2001, have reminded us of how precious our
national heritage of freedom is, and that the foundation is that freedom of
true worship God. It is our desire to point our nation to freedom in
Christ.
“Our mission is to help people
discover freedom in Christ, develop Christ-like character,
and demonstrate active Christian service. Our ultimate purpose is to
deploy believers for the advancement of Christian faith worldwide in
complete dedication to God.”
